Issue Description

This issue covers wide-ranging contemporary issues in a regional strategic context. The research papers touch upon different themes ranging from civilian nuclear energy to that of the situation in Afghanistan. The first three papers touch upon different aspects of the South Asian nuclear programs. The first paper lays out the nonproliferation paradox in South Asia in light of the civilian nuclear energy programs; the second touches upon the growing missile competition in South Asia and its impact on the stability of deterrence. The third research draws attention to the modernization of the Indian Air Force and how it impinges on Pakistan’s security in terms of maintaining a balance of forces. The last two articles deal with a subject crucial for maintaining peace, i.e. the situation in Iran and Afghanistan and their impact on regional security.

Towards the end, the issue offers a review of a book discussing the nuclear dilemma of the India-Pakistan strategic relations.
